About Ringsy
What is Ringsy?
Ringsy is a ringtone maker for iPhone. It turns a song from the Files app, the sound of a video, a recording or one of its built-in original sounds into a ringtone, text tone or alert, and processes everything on the phone.
Which iPhone and iOS version does Ringsy need?
iOS 17 or later. On iOS 26 and later the ringtone is set with the built-in “Use as Ringtone” action; on iOS 17 and 18 Ringsy walks you through Apple’s free GarageBand app instead.

Do I need an account or a computer?
Neither. Ringsy has no sign-up, email or password, and no step needs a Mac or PC. A computer is only an option on iOS 17–18 if you prefer to add the .m4r file Ringsy gives you through Finder.

How do I set a sound as my ringtone?
On iOS 26, tap “Save & set as ringtone” in Ringsy and choose “Use as Ringtone” in the share sheet (scroll the row of actions if you do not see it). On iOS 17–18, Ringsy shows the GarageBand steps one by one and also saves an .m4r file.

Why can a ringtone not be longer than 30 seconds?
iPhone only accepts ringtones shorter than 30 seconds, so Ringsy caps a selection at 29.9 seconds. A short sound can repeat to fill the 30 seconds instead of ending abruptly.

Can I use it as a text tone, for one contact or as an alarm?
Yes. Once a sound is in your ringtone list, pick it in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Text Tone, in a contact under Edit › Ringtone or Text Tone, or for an alarm in the Clock app under Sound.

My custom ringtone does not show up. What should I check?
Most often the sound is 30 seconds or longer, is a copy-protected streaming song, or was exported from GarageBand as a song instead of a ringtone. Fix that, then close and reopen Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone; custom tones are listed at the top.

Can Ringsy change the iPhone charging sound?
No app can replace iOS’s own charging chime. What works today is a free Shortcuts personal automation that plays a sound of your choice when the charger connects. Ringsy’s “Sounds for moments”, which guides you through that automation, is in review for the next update.

Sources and files
Which sounds can I turn into a ringtone?
An audio file from the Files app (MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF and other common formats), the soundtrack of a video from Photos, a recording made in Ringsy of up to 60 seconds, or one of Ringsy’s built-in original sounds. You can also share a file or voice memo into Ringsy from another app.

Can I use songs from Apple Music or Spotify?
No. Streaming songs and older iTunes purchases are copy-protected (DRM), so no app can export them as a ringtone. Use a file you own, a video’s sound, a recording or a built-in sound.
Do I still need an .m4r file?
Not on iOS 26, where “Use as Ringtone” takes the audio directly. On iOS 17–18 an .m4r file is how a ringtone is added from a Mac: drag it onto your iPhone in Finder’s General tab. Ringsy creates one for you.

My recording is too quiet. Can Ringsy fix it?
Ringsy’s Even out volume is on by default and raises quiet recordings without distorting loud songs. Fade in and fade out (0.5, 1 or 2 seconds) remove clicks at the edges.

Privacy
Does Ringsy upload my sounds?
No. Files, a video’s audio and recordings are decoded, trimmed and saved on your iPhone and never sent to a server. The microphone is on only while you record, and only the video you pick is read.
What data does leave the device?
RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, the device identifier Apple gives developers and your purchase history, so the app knows whether Ringsy Unlimited is unlocked. From version 1.2 (build 12), anonymous usage statistics go to Google Analytics for Firebase, which you can turn off in Ringsy › Settings › Privacy. The Privacy Policy lists the details.
Does Ringsy show ads or track me?
No. There are no ads, no advertising identifier (IDFA) and no tracking across apps.
Price and purchases
How much does Ringsy cost?
Your first two exported ringtones are free, and editing and previewing are always free. Ringsy Unlimited is a single $2.99 purchase that unlocks unlimited ringtones, text tones and alerts. Prices may vary by country.
Is it a subscription?
No. Ringsy Unlimited is bought once through your App Store account. Nothing renews, there is no trial that turns into a bill, and there is nothing to cancel.
How do I get my purchase on a new iPhone?
Install Ringsy on the new iPhone, open Settings in Ringsy and tap Restore purchase. You need a connection and the same Apple Account you bought with; restoring is free on every iPhone you own.
